Last week, elephant communications ran its first free advice day for small businesses. During the day, help and tips were given to a number of small and start up firms. One such firm, Colchester Classics, the award-winning Essex mail order music business, got help with a press release, which saw its MD, Liz Leatherdale secure two great pieces of coverage for her business in the regional press.
Liz Leatherdale, MD of Colchester Classics commented: "Within a small amount of time, Guy's help has made my small business feel like a big, national business. The elephant team is fully aware of how small businesses operate and they recognize the sector’s importance to boost the economy - small acorns and all that! The knowledge, advice, and experience gained has helped me engage with the newspapers and magazines with real confidence and has already seen results! I hope to be able to make use of Guy's free help in the future. We are already talking about follow up activity that has a bigger footprint. It’s been great to get access to the kind of quality advice that big business enjoys – and to get it for free has really been special.”
On the back of the first small business advice day, elephant communications will be running a further two free advice days for small businesses during the spring and summer months.
The free advice days for small business form part of elephant’s four-prong community investment programme. Whilst elephant’s day-to-day work is aligned with supporting national brands, the team believes that small firms, the bedrock of the economy, need support. Many advertise, often overlooking PR. During elephant’s quarterly free advice days the team will offer small businesses advice on how they can promote their businesses in a simple and cost effective way.
Guy Bellamy, MD at elephant communications commented: “Small businesses are key to the economy and they need support. Everyone is keen to see growth and we feel we can make a contribution to this vital part of our society and economy. Our free quarterly advice days for small businesses form part of our broader community investment programme. As passionate PR people we are looking to build a different kind of consulting practice for 2012 that is based on authenticity and societal relevance - and our commitment to make a meaningful contribution to society at large gives elephant communications a footprint and a soul we are proud of.”
